Biography
Elliot Galvin graduated from Trinity Laban in 2014
with a BMus(Hons) in Jazz Piano and a Masters in Composition, winning
the prestigious Gold Medal Competition. He was also named as one
of 2013’s Yamaha Jazz scholars, as well as being awarded the
Worshipful Company of Musician’s Silver medal award. He is
the co-founder of the Chaos Collective, an organization and record
label, with whom he won the Musician’s Benevolent Fund’s
development award, and a prolific sideman. In 2014 his trio was
awarded the Musician’s Benevolent Fund’s development
award, and in 2014 they were announced as the winners of the 2014
European Young Jazz Artist of the Year Award in Germany, opening
the Burghausen International Jazz Festival there.
As a composer he is focused on doing collaborative work, and recently
put on an interactive installation of live performance, sound sculptures
and film at the Turner Contemporary Gallery, as part of their Summer
of Colour. He has been commissioned by the Dance Company DIPTIK
as part of the Resolution Festival at the Place, Choreographer Tony
Thatcher, the London Jazz Festival, Match and Fuse Festival and
many other notable festivals and ensembles.
