Emerson Nurse biography
Jazz Pianist and Composer Emerson Nurse began his career in 1974
playing at Halcyon Days, one of the newest resorts on the island
at the time. From that point on Nurse's career blossomed to include
poetry and music, folk music and theatre and jazz.
Nurse recently founded the jazz band “Debat” but has
worked extensively with St. Lucian jazz pioneers such as Ronald
“Boo” Hinkson and Luther Francois. The pianist/composer
has graced the stages of such jazz clubs as “Lickety Split”
in Harlem, The Village Vanguard with Arnie Lawrence and has played
at jazz festivals across the Caribbean including St. Kitts, Martinique,
Grenada, Jamaica, Antigua and others. He has performed alongside
such names as Bobby Watson, Andy Narrel and Rufus Reid.
