Biography
Trumpet prodigy Ibrahim Maalouf was born in Beirut,
Lebanon, 5 December 1980, and raised in Paris after fleeing the
war-ridden country with his family. Following on his father’s
footsteps - trumpeter Nassim Maalouf. Ibrahim is the only trumpeter
in the world to play Arabic music on a quarter-tone trumpet, an
instrument invented by his innovative and legendary progenitor.
Ibrahim Maalouf naturally learned to play trumpet from his father
at 7, touring professionally with him around Europe only two years
later. Throughout his young life, he has successively won international
trumpet awards, playing complex classical or chamber numbers. He
has released a string of acclaimed solo albums, “Diaspora”
(2007), the double-CD “Diachronism” (2009), “Diagnostic”
(2011) and “Wind” (2013), while continuously collaborating
with various French and international pop stars.
