Biography

McCoy Tyner Legends is a musical tribute to the legacy of McCoy Tyner, celebrating the extensive music catalog the jazz icon composed over his six decade career. The project is led by longtime Tyner collaborator Avery Sharpe, who serves as musical director and bassist, and who shares creative credit for the project’s inception with Nurudeen “Deen” Tyner, McCoy’s son and legacy torchbearer. Legends will provide multi-generational audiences with insights into one of jazz music’s most prolific composers, while tapping into the musical universe of creators that surrounded McCoy throughout his life and career. McCoy Tyner is a musical tribute to the legacy of McCoy Tyner Legends.
