Biography
Having crossed borders between the acoustic and
electric jazz camps on 25 album releases by the late 90’s,
master guitarist John Scofield had already forged a career on an
unmistakable quality of tone, technique and composition. In 2000,
he called upon the young and highly acclaimed pianist Brad Mehldau
to join him in the studio for the album Works for Me. Since that
time, each musician has gone forward building sizable audiences
of admirers worldwide. They are standard bearers of their genre
whilst influencing a generation of talented musicians, each with
a singular signature sound and approach to music. Their mutual admiration
has existed over the last fifteen years yet they could not find
the right opportunity to collaborate live and tour in a band together.
Starting in the summer of 2016, the two unmistakable
modern masters; Scofield armed with a modified guitar/pedal arsenal,
and Mehldau on Rhodes/Synths/Piano, will be joined by one of the
most acclaimed and sought after younger drummers/programmers on
the scene, Mark Guiliana. The trio, composing music specifically
for this special collaboration, will prove to be one of the most
exciting live groups to hit the improvisational electric jazz scene
in some time.
