Jazz on the Square is one of my favourite events on the St. Lucia Jazz Festival calendar. It is an ideal venue to experience the many musical flavours St. Lucia and surrounding islands have to offer up close and personal.

The line-up is as diverse as the patrons who flock to this delightful square. However, unseasonal rain certainly put off many patrons this year, and at least one whole day had to be cancelled due to torrential rain. It took a little while for the weather weary patrons who did brave the stop-start rain to warm up and relax.

Hats off to calypsonian (and island favourite) Herb Black, Scrunter and Bajan born saxophonist Arturo Tappin for outstanding performances. James Brown Jr also whipped up a storm with his fiery foot moves (reminiscent of his father). He persevered throughout a torrential downpour. As I was without my underwater camera gear I was unable to capture his performance.
