Introduction
The Vortex is a world-renowned jazz club in Dalston established
for over 20 years. It is a beacon for jazz, folk, world and contemporary
music in the capital and has played host to many of the world’s
most highly acclaimed and respected musicians and singers.
Vortex Outdoorsmarks the start of a new initiative to widen access
to the diverse and high quality music being performed at The Vortex
Jazz Club. During September and October selected music students
from BSIX 6th Form College will participate in workshops run by
BrazenBunch and lead by some of the participating artists, forming
an integral part of the event.
BrazenBunch is a not-for-profit organisation working with artists,
musicians and filmmakers to provide events that benefit local
and global communities – especially young people. As well
as workshops for young people and people who have encountered
homelessness, their work includes fundraising music projects in
Barbados and educational projects in Tanzania.
